Novels Quotes

"Everything has its own beginning. The longest book begins with a single word. The longest journey begins with a single step. At Kirkston Abbey the first step was an unexpected act of kindness." - The Wishing Game by Patrick Redmond

"If they toss out enough nouns, something is bound to sound familiar."

"Another thing I never liked: boys playing sports, girls applauding them from the sidelines. It seemed like when you're a kid, the mothers sat on the bleachers and applauded, and then when you got older, the girlfriends did. How come females always watched males and said, 'Go you!'. It kind of sucked."

"Religion gave you easy answers like, 'It's God's will' or 'She's in a better place now', but who really knew if that was true? Anything might be true, but I was starting to think a lot of what people said they believed was what they wanted to believe to make themselves feel better." - Blind Faith

Translation by [info]gurakko

From the book I was reading fell A single letter blurred with age
A pitiful letter with just the address and stamp attached, without a recipient

"How are you?"
"Are you still the same?"
"Have you grown a little more used to that place?"
"It's been almost a year since we met."
"It's kind of embarrassing that I'm not used to writing letters."

I can't read beyond that Can't read the blurred lines
Afraid that the colours would fade, I start writing
Looking at how silly I'm being, will you laugh?
Or will you cry with me?

You were robbed from me that day by ASPHALT A bouquet of chrysanthemums A discreetly attached letter

How sly of you to disappear without even saying goodbye
Left behind, I'm like a broken projector
Endlessly displaying this selfish, always stubbornly putting up a strong front; yet kind and sensitive
You, whom I can't forget

I'm Sorry I Love You

I'm Sorry I Love You is certainly a nice drama to watch. The storyline centres not only on boy-girl love but parental love as well, and perhaps this is what makes me like this drama so much.

The protagonist of this drama, Che Moon Hyuk is an orphan who was abandoned and adopted by a foreigner and was brought all the way to Australia. His life over there wasn't a bit happy as he was abused by his foster parents and he left home at a young age of 10 to strive on his own, living a life of poverty and delinquent-like. He had a girlfriend he really loved but that bitch left him and married someone else for money's sake. Because of this and that, he took 2 bullets in his head. One was removed, however for the second bullet, it was too deep in his skull, and there was no way to extract it out. Che Moon Hyuk had only a few months to live.

At the very start of the drama, it was already told directly that Moon Hyuk was unlike other orphans who hate their own parents for abandoning them. Rather, he believed that his parents were having a hard time and decided to give away their own child for his sake, hoping that the child would live a better life under the care of someone else. With this thought in mind, he really hoped to see his parents, to work hard and buy them nice clothes and food. However, all these thoughts were torn apart when he found out his mother was actually a famous actress and has a son who is a singer. Poverty? Not even close. Feeling betrayed, he pledged revenge and got close to the mother and son.

In episode 4, when the mother accidentally broke a few plates, and her feet were injured by the broken shards of glass, Moon Hyuk carried her away from those shards and bandaged her bleeding feet. However, the woman was all shaken that a stranger was at her house and kept crying for his son - Choi Yoon. Instead of feeling grateful, she complained to Yoon that Moon Hyuk is a scary man and has no idea what he was doing at her house. Moon Hyuk, having heard all these, was of course heart broken. As he was picking up those broken shards, he held one so tightly that his hand was bleeding profusely. He was tearing. It wasn't because of the pain he felt in his hand but the pain he felt in his breaking heart.

There were many times when Moon Hyuk felt like stopping everything he was doing, for the sake of his loved one - Eun Chae. However, the story couldn't carry on if he stopped revenging that soon. In one scene when Eun Chae was hugging Moon Hyuk, telling him that he wasn't alone anymore, this hit him greatly as he cried, embracing Eun Chae back. I think at that moment he thought that someone was finally there for him.

In the later episodes, when he found out that Yoon wasn't the mother's own son, he was shocked and at this point, he was forgiving his mother already. He hugged his mother so tightly, it was heart wrenching for me! Skipping to the main point, when he realised the truth his mother didn't abandon him like what he had thought, all the images of him plotting and suffering came flashing back. They were a sense of guilt and regret. He requested his mother to cook him lunch and while eating, he was crying uncontrollably. The taste of the food cooked by his mother, the taste he longed for so long. It was this scene that tears just came flowing or flooding.
"If there is an afterlife, I want to be mother's son again. A bright and outstanding son whom you can be proud of. I love you, mother. I really love you, mother. In my entire life, there wasn't a moment I didn't love you. I really love you, mother. Thank you for giving birth to me." GAH, just typing this makes me want to cry! From this, we can tell how much he yearned for his mother, how much he missed her and how much he loved her. Even though he was having his revenge, there wasn't a time he hated his mother. All he ever wanted was someone/his mother to love him.

Moon Hyuk as a character, I think he is someone who cherishes relationships a lot. He values and loves the people around him and would do anything for them. Just like how he shielded his ex-girlfriend from the bullets, how he would forgive his mother no matter what, how he would always place Eun Chae ahead of himself. And of course, a son who is always seeking for his mother's love.

Beautiful.

Shigofumi, the thought of jumping

Shigofumi is the latest anime I have finished watching. It is kind of creepy, mysterious and touches a bit on reality. One of the episodes that left a deep impression on me was episode 3 or 4, I think. It was about a high school student who would take the train to school everyday. Every time he stood on the platform, a strange thought would surface from his mind, and that was, "what would happen if I jump (from the platform)?" Truthfully, I have this thought at times when I stand on the platform too. What would happen if I jump? Even though the answer is obviously death, this thought still emerges. It's not that I want to die. I have absolutely zero thoughts of suicidal but it's just strange how I or the author of the anime think. I remember there was one time when I sneaked on to the rooftop with my friends. I was looking at the ground from the rooftop and the thought I mentioned above flashed in my mind too. It was kind of scary so I quickly withdrew from the rooftop.

In that episode, that student's friend who was always cheerful jumped off the building. He had the same thought as the student. No one would have guessed that he would actually commit suicide. However, it wasn't even considered a suicide. All he did was jump. It was just an action or a verb and the consequence of answering his own question was undeniably death.

I don't know what I'm trying to get across here but it's strange how humans view things or maybe it's just me.

What I look out for in an anime character

Males
- White hair (Killua ♥)
- Short spiked hairstyle (Killua, yes.)
- Dark, mysterious and quiet
- Hoarse, husky voice (Suzuken and Takahiro are my ♥!)

Females
- Long hair (Lucy ♥)
- Independent
- Physically or mentally strong
- Calm (Ouran Haruhi!)
- Husky voice too (Wahaha, Lucy!)

What I DON'T look out for in an anime character

Males

Females

- Dense and stupid (Kotoko from Itakiss?)
- Irritating high pitch voice (That stupid usagi from Suzumiya Haruhi)
- Big boobs (-.-)

Special A

I just finished watching episode 1 of Special A aka S.A. Surprisingly, it was much better than coughvampirecoughknightcough in my opinion. The way the scenes were animated has a flow and everything seems smooth and easy. Furthermore, the voice actors and actresses were marvelous! I just love how every seiyuu fits the character's personality so well! As for the animated art, Hikari looks a bit weird to me. Especially her eyes (they took up too much space on her face). I think she looks prettier in the manga. The other characters look awesome though. I might even have a slight crush on Tadashi and Ryuu! ♥

The storyline is pretty well developed too, even though they cut quite a few chapters/scenes. I believe this is better for the anime 'cos I don't really want to see so much of Hikari's obsessed competitiveness to win over Kei. Now I only hope they will animate enough to show every character getting paired up. Ryuu and Finn, *hint hint*

Vampire Knight

I just watched episode one of Vampire Knight. It was neither good nor bad, I guess. Somehow, the animation is kind of bugging me. It's not about the art but the time line (is that what they call it?), I suppose. It's like the scenes weren't 'smooth' enough. I wonder why I think this way though. Is it because this is the first anime that I actually read the manga first before watching the anime? Is that why things seem kind of weird? Ok, other than these, the voice actors/actresses are kind of a disappointment. Especially Kaname and Zero. Kaname is supposed to be a vampire! And vampires are supposed to be dark, mysterious and creepy! However, the voice doesn't reflect much about Kaname, much less about vampires. As for Zero, his personality is those anti-social, 'act cool' type, someone who has a dark past so I think his voice is not deep and strong enough. GAH. And Aidou! Too gay. Akatsuki, too deep. I guess the only ones I'm satisfied with are Yuki, Shiki, Touya and Ruca. Nothing I can do but to just get used to it.

The funny scenes are kind of out of place too. They were SO RANDOM! HAHA, but ok, I snorted laughed a bit. Seriously, I hope they keep up with the storyline and don't stray away too much. If not, it's going to be a big disappointment!

One thing that I'm super satisfied about the anime is Shiki. LMAO. Red hair, me like! I wanna see more of him ^_^ His power is cool too, oh yeahyeahyeah.

Next Monday!

DBSK - Korea or Japan?

Korea or Japan?

Wherever the boys are, be it in Japan, Korea or China, I'll feel happy for them, and support them all the way (: It doesn't make much of a difference 'cos I can understand neither Japanese or Korean perfectly and all I can rely on is subs and translations. However, to tell truthfully, when they appear on Japanese variety shows, I feel much calmer and settled. Perhaps it's due to the fact that I can understand a tiny bit of Japanese and can comprehend some part of the show even without subs. On the other hand, I don't know Korean at all and this communication barrier actually makes me seem so distant from the boys (yes, physically we're so far apart too). It's a kind of loneliness that surfaces from my heart. However, that doesn't mean I don't like their activities in Korea. My favorite song and variety show are both Korean. In Korean variety shows, the boys tend to be much more relaxed and comfortable. They laugh and goof a lot more and are not afraid to show their dorkiest side. They often laugh their heads off at jokes made by the hosts. Furthermore, the boys know the MCs well, so they are able to speak freely and frankly, not having to fear that the wrong words would be spoken (with the exception of Jaejoong, of course). Moreover, the hosts are all afraid of Ca-ah, so it seems like the boys are really akin to gods in their home country. Whereas in Japan, the boys are really careful with their words and often, their laughters arise from inner jokes, meaning Junsu is the butt of the joke.

Recently they went back to Korea and from their expressions (KBS performances), especially Changmin's, I can see that they're really happy to be back in Korea again. After all, Korea is their home.

In certain Japanese variety shows, they'd flash back some of the boys' old videos. For example, when they first went to Japan. Those were the Stay with me Tonight days. Every time I watch those videos, a strange feeling overwhelmed me. Most people feel touched because of all the efforts the boys had put in. However for me, it wasn't even closed to being touched. It was more like a sudden outburst of sadness and negativity. To see them worked so hard for the past few years, it was lonely. I feel that if only I'd known them much earlier, I could sort of go through the Rising Sun days with them. Like to be with them, at least. It was kind of a bittersweet feeling. To know that I wasn't with them but am glad that they're doing so well now, the fact that all their hard work have paid off. That's why I don't really like to watch their old videos, especially their Japanese old videos.

Review of FFVIII - Squall Leonhart

A lone wolf, as described in the official profile of Squall Leonhart. At the beginning of FFVIII, we see how Squall and Seifer fought, resulting in permanent scars across each other's face. Even so, neither party admitted defeat. This shows that Squall is both stubborn and strong.

In disc 1, we can already tell what sort of person Squall is. The way he dealt conversations with Quistis (poor girl) and the way he tried to avoid talking about himself show that Squall is cold and bitter. He has a wicked sense of humour as well. E.g. "go talk to the wall" and "you might be dead later". All these could easily make others hate him but his friends actually love him!

One of the reasons that turned Squall to who he is today (in FFVIII, that is) is because Ellone left him. He's an orphan who was under the care of Edea and Master Cid. During that time, he was very dependent on Ellone, wanted to be with her every single minute. Thus, the disappearance of Ellone made him very upset, to the extent of shutting his heart from the outside world. From then, he became a really independent person, not relying on anyone for he believes that depending on someone is just an act of weakness of humans. Also, the feeling of having someone he loves being taken away hurt him deeply. It's something like.. since the one you rely on, depend on is going to leave you one day, so why bother to be close with them in the first place. He's afraid of being hurt and lonely once again. Thus, he doesn't bother himself with relationships.

Everyone calls him a leader, even if he was reluctant to become one.

However, things changed when the female lead - Rinoa Heartilly appeared. Perhaps it was because of Rinoa's personality, she was able to warm the cold heart of Squall. She bothered, pestered him consistently, LOL. Always trying to open up Squall's heart. Despite many rejections by Squall, she didn't give up and continued to pester communicate with him. Later on, to cut things short, we know for a fact that Squall opened up. He's able to care and realise the importance of the people around him. His comrades, friends and of course, his precious Rinoa. He's no longer alone.

My point of view - I'm seriously in love with this guy, which I'm not sure why though. Perhaps it's because of his smart ass rebuts that made me... ^^; I like how he's really independent and strong. Also, from the way he handled the Balamb Garden and Galbadia Garden collision, I'd say he's a natural born leader.. and not to mention, he's hot ^o^!
Afterall, he's just a young boy who longs for love, ne^^ and how he desperately tried to save Rinoa in the space... woohoo. Yay

Tohoshinki Five in the Black Album Review

I bought this album a few months back. It's time for a review =)

01 - ZION
I believe this is the song most of the people dislike in the entire album. It starts off with .. -.-

02 - Sky
Very poppy, definitely a song of summer. It's also the kind of song that makes you like it on first listen.

03 - Begin
A beautiful ballad which starts off with soft piano and of course Yoochun's voice =).

04 - Choosey Lover
This song is sooo upbeat, R&B and you can just dance or shake along with it. I'd never in my life liked this genre of songs if it weren't for THSK. Ha. The boys' voices are exceptionally high in this song... so that makes it very smexy. A song you want to play in the disco, yeah baby! As for the lyrics... it's kind of... off track. I understand wut it's trying to say about a choosey lover, but wut's up with East, West, South and North?

05 - Dead End
Yay, my favourite of the 4 new songs! This song is very powerful but of course, not as powerful as Rising Sun or 'O'. But definitely, it gives people the feeling of DBSK's original image. Poweerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr *RWAR!!*

06 - High Time
Super catchy song =D With mostly Junsu as the main vocal. The rest sort of did a ...? The lyrics contain lots of english, (which I don't understand why for japanese songs ==;) Joongie's "Are you leidy(ready) to go" Hahs.

07 - Proud
08 - Yakusoku
09 - 'O' Sei Han Gou
10 - Miss You
11 - I'll Be There (Japanese Version)
12 - Step by Step
13 - Hello Again
